Meet Punch, the baby monkey who’s captured the heart of the internet

🐒 All eyes are on Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan as an adorable Japanese macaque named Panchi-Kun (also known as “Punch”) has stolen the hearts of netizens.

The zoo says Punch was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth, and sadly, other macaques at the zoo also rejected him. Zookeepers gave Punch a plush orangutan doll for warmth and companionship. Punch has become an overnight celebrity, with countless photos and videos going viral of himself holding, carrying, and sleeping with his only companion.

Slowly, the zoo’s troop of macaques are starting to accept Punch. “As the days go by, the number of individuals Punch interacts with has been increasing,” the zoo stated. “There are still times when he gets scolded, but while learning the rules of the group one by one, Punch is gradually getting used to it too.”

Regarding the bullying seen in the post above, the Ichikawa City Zoo has released a statement.
