An Asian American couple from NYC reaches a settlement with the fertility clinic that accidentally implanted the wrong embryos causing the woman to birth two white babies

An Asian American couple from NYC, only identified by their initials YZ and AP, has just reached a settlement for an undisclosed sum with the fertility clinic that accidentally implanted the wrong embryos.

In 2018, the couple traveled to Southern California for fertility treatments at CHA Fertility Clinic which resulted in eight embryos and a pregnancy for the couple. Upon pregnancy, the couple was told they would be having twin girls.

But the couple received the surprise of a lifetime when the mother gave birth to two white baby boys instead of Asian twin girls. According to the lawsuit, the clinic accidentally implanted two male embryos from two different families.

Weeks after giving birth, the couple was forced to give up the two babies to their respective biological parents.

“She carried my child for nine months, she fed him, she took care of him, she changed his diapers. It could have ended up differently,” Anni Manukyan, the biological mother of one of the boys said. “I pray for her every day, she was a victim of this as much as I am. She’s a lovely lady. She raised my baby inside of her and after he was born.”

“It’s been a long road for them,” said Dae Lee, the attorney for YZ and AP. “It’s still a very touchy subject for them.”

Reportedly, YZ and AP still do not know what happened to their eight embryos.
